The fastest-growing restoration franchise is helping entrepreneurs realize their dream of small business ownership
When Franchising USA reached out to Gary Findley, CEO of Restoration 1, and asked why his leadership has turned the brand into the fastest-growing restoration franchise in the nation, he had this to say:
“I credit our phenomenal franchise sales team and a franchise opportunity that has attracted the most incredible prospects in my entire career of franchising,” Gary says in Franchising USA. “From Wall Street executives and corporate evacuees, to military veterans and successful entrepreneurs, we have the most qualified leaders joining our network.”
One of those leaders is Ryan Moore, owner of a Restoration 1 franchise in Columbus, Ohio. Ryan spent years in the corporate world before he took the advice of his business partner and left the rat race to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a small business owner.
“I was burned out on the corporate world and really wanted to do something different,” Ryan says. “I was looking into starting a staffing agency, because I had experience in that area and I excelled at managing people. But ultimately I decided against it because I realized that I wanted to franchise with a brand that already had a business model established. I found Restoration 1, took a leap of faith, and decided to reach out to the executive team. I then knew immediately that Gary had a lot of integrity. But when they sent me their Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD), I thought it was a joke: ‘Could it really be the case that the franchisees were making this much money?’ It turns out that it wasn’t a joke at all.”
In a short amount of time, Restoration 1 has established itself as the leader in the $60 billion restoration industry. Not only is Restoration 1 still growing in record numbers while the competition is either sold out or quickly running out of territory, the new kid on the block is building a reputation for trust across the country. For Ryan, this benefit was felt soon after he opened the doors to his new business.
“Our first year in business really exceeded my expectations,” Ryan says. “In month five, we realized that we were so busy that we needed more vans. By the end of the year, we needed to get an office. We’ve been growing ever since, and now we have three full-time technicians and two salespeople. I always think, ‘Why didn’t I do this sooner?’”
For Ryan, who had never been in the restoration industry, the exceptional initial training, as well as the support of the executive team, was beneficial before he opened his business; they continue to be a guiding light to this day.
“When we started, we had a lot of questions. We still have a lot of questions, but the executive team is always there for us,” Ryan says. “That’s what makes them such a good brand; they make it a point to be accessible for us. The training was excellent, as well — from teaching us how to navigate the insurance waters to collect payment, to getting certified, to learning how to sell our services and create a great customer experience.”
Ryan isn’t the only one with praise for Restoration 1. Entrepreneur magazine named Restoration 1 as No. 96 on its prestigious annual Franchise 500 list, leaping up an unprecedented 287 spots from the year before. Restoration 1 was also named to Entrepreneur’s Fastest Growing Franchises list for 2017, coming in at No. 72. They also awarded us with the distinction of being one of the top franchises to invest in for less than $100,000.
As Ryan looks toward the future and his continued growth, he has some wise words for entrepreneurs who are looking for an opportunity to realize their own potential:
“If I had known I would have been this successful, I would have started this business 10 years ago,” he says. “If you’re looking for an opportunity, I would say run, don’t walk, to Restoration 1.”
Restoration 1 is a low-cost investment that is easy to scale
Restoration 1 is a low-cost investment opportunity with potential for high returns. The total investment estimate of starting a new restoration franchise operation ranges from $77,950 to $182,100. The base franchise fee is $49,500, which is much lower than the competition. In addition to these, Restoration 1 has zero overhead and no buildout costs or brick-and-mortar expenses, making Restoration 1 far more affordable than other franchise concepts in the home restoration industry.
