Why the Restoration 1 Franchise Is a Protection Against Storm Chasers

The premier restoration franchise is committed to setting the gold standard for how to help customers in crisis

The 2017 hurricane season was especially tragic — three big storms one after another caused billions of dollars in property damage in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. Unfortunately for communities that still are reeling from their ordeal, many restoration companies do not share the same standards for transparency, qualifications, industry certifications and customer service that Restoration 1 has become known for since our founding in 1998.

The problem of companies attempting to take advantage of hurricane victims has become so widespread that the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) has issued a news release warning customers about getting “scammed by a storm-chaser.”

“In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, it is easy to be tricked by a less-than-professional repair service,” the IICRC reports. “Hiring a ‘storm chaser’ will lead to serious headaches, exorbitant costs, poor workmanship and unfinished work that can leave your home or business in worse condition.”

The IICRC identifies “the six properties of a storm-chaser” to help consumers guard against being taken advantage of:

  • Too-good-to-be-true prices
  • Request for up-front cash payments
  • Lack of references
  • High-pressure tactics
  • Lack of training
  • Inability to show credentials

What makes the Restoration 1 franchise a trustworthy, reliable brand?

Restoration 1 was established to provide the credibility and the level of expert service that customers depend on when their lives have been interrupted by home and property damage caused by storms, water damage, mold, fires and more. Since 2008, we’ve helped thousands of people return to homes and properties that we have made safe for them to live and work in after damage occurs.

The IICRC that published the warning to consumers mentioned above is the same company that our franchise owners and their technicians use to receive their industry certifications. This is not optional: other brands may cut corners on industry training and certification, but Restoration 1 makes successful training and certification a requirement for anyone who dons our uniform and works under our name.

Not only are our franchisees the most well-trained in the industry, our brand emphasizes exceptional customer service. We recognize that when our customers call us, they are experiencing an unavoidable and unwanted crisis that is interrupting their lives. We strive to make the experience of hiring a restoration company as painless as possible. Restoration 1 offers a 100% guarantee on all services, and our franchisees operate with skill, speed and empathy to get customers back in their homes as fast as possible.

“We want Restoration 1 to embody the best that the restoration industry has to offer to those who really need our help,” says Gary Findley, CEO of Restoration 1. “This is why our initial training and ongoing training are so intensive. Our franchisees come from different professional backgrounds, wanting to own a business that is meaningful to their community while providing a better life for themselves and their families. To fulfill this goal, we ensure that our franchisees are knowledgeable, trained and certified across the board. We never waver on this commitment.”
