Restoration 1 franchise owner David Hofstetter has learned how to read his customers, and how to immediately see their concerns and offer solutions. “I walk in. I see the mold. But I try not to be an alarmist,” he said when interviewed at his Denham Springs, LA, ribbon-cutting. “When people call, they are not having too good a day. I’m there to take care of that person.”

Education key to consumer trust

“I feel it’s my duty to tell them what they face,” he said, “educating the customer to what they are dealing with and what caused it to happen.”

• Mold growth due to a drainage problem in an attic air-conditioning unit
• A slow leak in a toilet tank, which over two to three years created a massive mold growth
• Plumbing not reconnected after maintenance, leading to an under-house spillage that took three days to remediate

“This is the most gratifying thing I’ve ever done,” Hofstetter said. “I go to a home and I tell someone to sit down, we got this.”
